TidyText AI Your words, refined.

The short version: TidyText has no server that receives your writing or your API key, so we never see or store them. Your text does go to the AI provider you choose, which handles it under its own terms — this page explains what that means.

What data we collect

TidyText does not run a server that receives your writing or your API key, and we do not store either.

TidyText runs in your browser. When you improve or translate text, your browser sends it directly to the AI provider you've chosen (for example Google, OpenAI or Anthropic). It does not pass through any TidyText server. The provider receives and processes your text, and may keep it, under its own terms — see AI providers & their policies below.

We use Cloudflare to host the site — like any web host, it processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages — and Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits (see Cookies & analytics). The contact form is the only place where information is sent to us.

Your API key

Your API key is saved in your browser's localStorage on your device. It is sent only to the AI provider you choose, with each request. We never receive it.

The key is Base64-encoded, which is not encryption: anyone with access to this browser profile could read it. Remove it at any time with Settings → Remove API Key, or clear everything with Clear All Data.

What's saved in your browser

To remember your work between visits, TidyText saves the following in this browser only. It stays until you remove it:

Anyone who uses the same browser profile can see this history. On a shared device, use Settings → Clear All Data when you finish.

AI providers & their policies

When you use TidyText, your text is processed by the AI provider you connect. Each provider has its own privacy policy and data practices that apply to what you send:

Each provider's API terms are different, so read the terms for the one you use.

Google Gemini

According to Google's Gemini API terms:

This is a summary, not legal advice. Google's terms are the authority and can change.

Cookies & analytics

TidyText sets no cookies and uses no advertising or tracking pixels. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits and page performance. When a page loads, it records the page address, the referring page, load-time measurements and basic browser information. It sets no cookies and uses no local storage, and Cloudflare says it doesn't fingerprint visitors. It doesn't receive the text you write in TidyText — that goes only to your AI provider. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, your name, email address, and message are submitted to us via a Cloudflare Worker and sent to our inbox through Resend. This data is used only to respond to your enquiry and is not stored beyond what our email provider retains.

No accounts, no sign-up

TidyText has no user accounts, so we hold no account data about you. What TidyText saves is in your browser, and you can delete it at any time from Settings.

Age

TidyText is intended for adults. The AI providers it connects to set their own age requirements — Google, for example, requires Gemini API users to be 18 or over.

Changes to this policy

If anything meaningful changes about how TidyText works that affects privacy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. We're not in the business of quietly burying changes.
